AreaPlaces.com is a unique Web site focusing on the geographic locations and descriptions of places.
The Web site is intended to address a wide audience on a broad range of subjects relating to places. Depending on the context, the word "place" has many meanings—AreaPlaces, however, is concerned with "what and where", i.e., where is a certain place, and what is it about? A place can be a landmark, a city, an area of a city (such as a subdivision or neighborhood), a park, a house, a business establishment, an office building, etc.
Finding the locations of places of interest can be a time-consuming task. Even longtime residents of a city will, on numerous occasions, spend an inordinate amount of time searching for places... You may ask, "Where is the closest bookstore?" or "Where is a certain park?" You might be interested in knowing where certain events are taking place. The need to know where places are and/or to gain insight into what an area is about is endless.
In the abstract, a place is about "paths, edges, nodes, and spaces" that are composed of physical objects and the interaction of these objects in one form or another.
From a practical standpoint, residents and travelers alike want to know about hotels, restaurants, and the kinds and locations of entertainment available. Residents and newcomers may also want to know where the best schools are, where the homes in a certain price range can be found or where is the best place to construct an office complex.
